Drivers headed into downtown Austin though Monday should expect some delays, according to city officials.
From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, the Pecan Street Festival will close Sixth Street between Interstate 35 and Brazos Street. San Jacinto Boulevard and Neches, Red River and Sabine streets also will be blocked between Fifth and Seventh streets. There will be right lane closures along the southbound side of I-35 between Sixth and Eighth streets.
On Sunday, the March for Immigration will begin about noon at the south gates of the Capitol. There will be no road closures, but police will escort marchers south on Congress Avenue to City Hall at Cesar Chavez and Lavaca streets.
Austin’s Cinco de Mayo celebration will close West Second Street between Guadalupe and San Antonio streets from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.
On Monday, the Texas Peace Officer’s Memorial Parade will close the Congress Avenue Bridge from 9 a.m. to noon. The procession will continue north, causing a short-term closure on Congress Avenue from Cesar Chavez to 11th Street from 11:15 a.m. to noon. Also, Colorado Street from 11th to 13th Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
