Several parents have complained that Austin school officials went too far when they sprang a surprise lockdown drill on students and staff at a middle school last week.
“Emergency conditions exist. This is a lockdown,” the principal’s voice boomed three times over the PA system last Thursday, sending Small Middle School students and teachers, who were between class periods, scurrying to the nearest available classroom.
