A day after death-row convicts launched a new court challenge to Texas’ execution methods, prison officials disclosed Wednesday they are using a compounding pharmacy to obtain the drug currently used in the nation’s busiest death chamber.
Officials said the Texas Department of Criminal Justice purchased eight vials of pentobarbital — a barbiturate — on Sept. 16 from a pharmacy supply house in suburban Houston.
