What is now the city of Lakeway started 50 years ago, and city officials and volunteers have been busy planning community activities and designing keepsakes to mark the golden anniversary of this city along Lake Travis.

1963: Lakeway begins as a small community near the former Lakeway Inn, which is now the Lakeway Resort and Spa.
1974: Lakeway becomes an incorporated village.
1990: Lakeway becomes a home-rule city.
1990-2000: City’s population grows about 90 percent.
2010: According to the U.S. Census, Lakeway’s population is 11,391.
