A day after he was sentenced to death, officials at the military prison at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., said Maj. Nidal Hasan likely will have his long, bushy beard forcibly shaved.
Fort Leavenworth officials said they could not comment specifically on Hasan, but in a statement said: “All inmates are considered soldiers and are treated as such. All inmates at the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks must abide by Army Regulation 670-1 (grooming standards that prohibit beards) unless there is an exception to policy granted.”
