In the middle of an epic drought, a deluge came to Cedar Creek in late January 2012.
At Lynn Reardon’s racehorse rescue, LOPE (LoneStar Outreach to Place Ex-Racers), the water totaled her and her husband Tom’s vehicles, crumbled the driveway, rendered fencing useless and ruined some 300 bales of hay. The 11 horses then in her care had to be boarded. Reardon estimated damage at more than $65,000.
