Well users in western Travis County might soon see the first regulations on pumping there, as an old effort to oversee groundwater use in the area ramps up again.
Hearings resume Friday in San Marcos to expand the Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer Conservation District to include a wide swath of western Travis County, a move recommended by the state’s environmental agency. The area includes new subdivisions that rely on well water, placing more stress on a limited resource.
