On Oct. 22, 1994, a 21-year-old Austin woman told police that she had parked her car the night before on the street near her home in North Austin and that, when she woke up, it was gone.
Three years later, a diver found the car, a 1984 Cadillac Eldorado, in about 30 feet of water — three miles from where it was last seen — in Quarry Lake, a popular dumping ground at the time. The woman wanted the car, but she couldn’t pay for a wrecker to retrieve it.
