The Austin Animal Center is so jammed that if adoptions don’t pick up dramatically this weekend, some animals are in jeopardy of euthanasia.
The animal shelter, off Levander Loop in East Austin, is waiving all adoption fees Saturday and Sunday and is trying to push back scheduled drop-offs until it has more space. The $12 million, almost 2-year-old facility is designed to hold about 280 cats and 280 dogs and is now holding roughly 900 of them.
