Forest North residents are determined to see their old community pool’s gates open again — even if it means creating a new state law — before they lose their decades-old swim team to Brushy Creek.
State Rep. Tony Dale, a Republican who represents Southwest Williamson County, filed a bill this week to force the City of Austin to reopen the pool, which it closed after annexing the neighborhood in 2011. The bill would require any city in the state with a population of 750,000 or more to reopen a pool that has been closed between one and three years if just 50 residents request it.
