The Austin school district plans to start work this year on about a third of the bond-funded upgrades and construction work that voters approved in May.
The bonds will pay for $490 million in construction projects, upgrades and equipment purchases that will eventually touch every campus in the district. A plan approved by the school board Tuesday night calls for spending up to $193 million this year.
