A veteran sex crimes detective, tasked with investigating sexual assaults, peeping Toms and indecent exposures, routinely patronized a strip club while on call and was at one point seen receiving a dance from a performer, Austin Police Department documents obtained by the American-Statesman and KVUE-TV show.
The officer, Detective Lawrence “Lee” Davis, received a 10-day suspension for his conduct six weeks ago and was moved from the high-profile position. Yet in its suspension memo, a document the department releases to the public, police officials acknowledge they didn’t include full details of Davis’ conduct, in part, because they were embarrassing and would reflect poorly on the department.
