A majority of Austin City Council members want to hold a bond election for affordable housing in November, after the defeat of a $78.3 million housing bond measure last fall.
The dollar amount isn’t known yet. A proposal from City Council members Sheryl Cole, Chris Riley and Bill Spelman would ask city staffers to prepare for a November housing bond election of up to $65 million and to develop several options to pay for building and renovating affordable housing over the next five years.
