Starting next year, bone marrow transplants — a missing link in cancer care services in Austin — will be provided to adults by St. David’s HealthCare in an unusual collaboration with partners in San Antonio.
The service will prevent patients like Dawn Morgan, who had a 2011 bone marrow transplant in San Antonio for leukemia and is now in remission, from living out of town for three months, paying for a hotel room and traveling to the Alamo City for regular check-ups.
