Ball: After 30 years, San Marcos innkeepers ready to hit the road

SAN MARCOS — Cathy Dillon says she couldn’t even make oatmeal when she and her husband opened the Crystal River Inn 29 years ago.

The cardiovascular nurse didn’t know a thing about running a bed and breakfast. But she loved the 1883 Victorian home in downtown San Marcos and was determined to make a go of it. Nearly three decades later, the Dillons have hosted 200,000 guests, 2,000 weddings and 300 murder mystery weekends.
