A family foundation established by a retired Houston oil executive and his wife has pledged $60 million to the University of Texas to help underwrite engineering and business buildings.
“Our family’s been blessed,” James Mulva, a former chairman and CEO of ConocoPhillips Co., said in an interview. “At this point in our lives we think it’s important to give back to those institutions and organizations that have been important to us and our family, and the University of Texas is certainly one of them.”
