The proposed marriage of two water systems serving the city of Georgetown and an area northwest of it is now off.
The board of directors for the Chisholm Trail Special Utilities District rejected the merger with the municipal utility in an April 18 vote. The board had until Monday to reconsider. The merger was projected to save the two entities $7 million to $19 million over the next decade, consultants said.
