San Marcos is considering a ban on smoking indoors in public places, a move that could relegate smokers to the outdoor patios and courtyards of local bars and restaurants.
The move comes years after other cities passed similar bans, and may have limited impact in San Marcos, where some establishments decided on their own to keep smokers outside. Still, Mayor Daniel Guerrero said such a ban would promote public health and economic development, and attract tourism dollars to San Marcos.
