Four candidates are vying for two open school board seats in the Bastrop school district, which was recently the subject of an investigation into alleged racial discrimination by the U.S. Department of Education.
Two of those candidates — Matthew Mix and Ashley Mutschink — sided with the superintendent, saying the school district has worked to handle any potential discrimination issues as they arise. One of the four candidates, Steve Miller, gathered evidence that led to the investigation.
