Austin school district trustees on Saturday recommended adding about $9 million in projects to a bond package that voters will probably get to decide on in May. If approved, the last-minute additions would bring the total amount of the package’s borrowing capacity to just over $892 million.
At a special meeting called to put final touches on a capital funding plan intended to meet the district’s needs through the end of the decade, trustees penciled in $2.5 million to build a stand-alone dance studio at McCallum High School and $1.6 million to add 200 seats to a proposed fine arts auditorium at the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, bringing the facility’s capacity to 500. They added $5 million more for technology, such as software and hand-held devices.
