This weekend will mark the opening of the air war in the battle for governor, but it won’t be Attorney General Greg Abbott or state Sen. Wendy Davis, D-Fort Worth, launching an ad campaign in major markets across the state. It will be Lisa Fritsch, the Austin political commentator who blends tea party conservatism and a sunny sensibility.
Fritsch is also African American, which helps explain the tag line in her ad — “I’m not your father’s conservative.” She is wearing a wry smile as she delivers the line in the ad, which her campaign said will be broadcast for several weeks beginning this weekend in Austin and elsewhere.
