Lisa Fritsch, Republican candidate for Texas governor, makes first ad buy of race

This weekend will mark the opening of the air war in the battle for governor, but it won’t be Attorney General Greg Abbott or state Sen. Wendy Davis, D-Fort Worth, launching an ad campaign in major markets across the state. It will be Lisa Fritsch, the Austin political commentator who blends tea party conservatism and a sunny sensibility.

Fritsch is also African American, which helps explain the tag line in her ad — “I’m not your father’s conservative.” She is wearing a wry smile as she delivers the line in the ad, which her campaign said will be broadcast for several weeks beginning this weekend in Austin and elsewhere.
