As weary legislators began their eighth month of work, a special House committee on Thursday approved a revised transportation funding plan to try to break a stalemate over how to pay for repair and expansion of Texas’ highway system.
The compromise package of two bills — overwhelminglyapproved by the Select Committee on Transportation Funding — is similar to what the House failed to approve in the last special session that ended Tuesday. Gov. Rick Perry immediately called a new special session, the third this year, for legislators to try again.
