A Travis County grand jury has found no basis to charge a former Texas Department of Public Safety official who had been under investigation in connection with her role in running the agency that handles billions in federal Homeland Security grants to the state.
Janice Bruno, the former head of the State Administrative Agency, was dismissed by DPS director Steve McCraw in 2011 after the State Auditor’s Office received a tip alleging “criminal misconduct” in connection with a contract for up to $2.5 million that was awarded to MRSW Management, an Austin consulting firm, through the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
