A powerful state senator is poised to move contentious gambling expansion legislation further than it has gone in years, but he admitted Wednesday that its chances are better in a special legislative session.
State Sen. John Carona, R-Dallas, chairman of the Senate Business and Commerce committee, said gambling is gaining momentum, but he wasn’t sure if this is the year to pass it out of the Legislature.
