Five students and three adults were treated Friday for the effects of chemical vapors from what was intended to be an acid bomb, officials said, forcing a brief evacuation of Burnet Middle School in North Austin.
According to Austin school district police, a security guard discovered what appeared to be an unfinished acid bomb in a boys’ bathroom about 10 a.m. Five students were treated for minor respiratory issues at Dell Children’s Medical Center and released. Three school staff members were treated for eye irritation at the scene, fire officials said.
