Officials: ACC student carjacked near Riverside campus

By Julie Chang - American-Statesman Staff

Police are looking for two men who they say carjacked a student this month near an Austin Community College campus.

The incident happened March 7 about 8:20 p.m. when a student was approached on Grove Street in front of the Riverside campus, according to a crime alert from ACC police. Two men with guns tapped on the window and told the student to get out of the car. The student complied and then men drove away in the car.

The student was not injured and staff and students were alerted.

On Wednesday, a similar incident occurred in a different part of the city not involving ACC student, the release said..

ACC police urge people to be aware of their surroundings and park on campus whenever possible. When parking off campus, they urge that drivers leave as soon as possible. Suspicious behavior can be reported to police at 512-223-7999.
