Man accused of road rage shooting
A man has been charged with aggravated assault after authorities say he shot at another vehicle in a road rage incident in western Travis County on Wednesday, according to an affidavit.
Donathan Harris, 33, was in Travis County Jail on Thursday with bail set at $30,000.
Travis County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 5700 block of RM 620 near Comanche Trail about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday where they saw two cars involved in a collision, the affidavit said. Harris, who was the driver of a Dodge sedan, said that the driver of a Lexus had cut him off, struck his vehicle multiple times and made threatening gestures and remarks at him, the document said.
Deputies said in the affidavit that Harris said he pulled a handgun from the driver’s side door and shot at the Lexus to protect his family, including his child, who were in the Dodge with him. After both vehicles had stopped, Harris then pointed the gun at the driver of the Lexus, the document said.
The affidavit said that damage to both vehicles was not indicative of the Dodge being hit multiple times by the Lexus. Accounts from witnesses also did not match Harris’ description of events, it said.
No one was injured, according to the sheriff’s office.
