Kieran McCloskey and Nicholas Ellis were leaving a downtown movie theater on Labor Day last year when they rushed to the aid of a man later identified as Matt Casey, the two men testified Tuesday in Travis County state district court.
Ellis said he only saw the man fall backward, landing on his head, his body limp. McCloskey told jurors the sound of a commotion initially drew his attention toward Casey, who was struck in the face by someone. “When he was punched, he kind of buckled over like a rag doll almost,” said McCloskey, who had been standing about a block away.
