An Austin commission that has been meeting for three months finally put pen to paper Saturday and began drawing 10 City Council districts during a whirlwind, daylong session.
The resulting map, which the commissioners cautioned is preliminary, left some audience members stunned and unhappy — including leaders of the citizens group that pushed for the 10-district setup and that wanted political novices to draw the boundaries.
