A Vista Ridge High School assistant band director quit after Round Rock administrators began an investigation into a claim that he had a relationship with a student in 2012 while working at Round Rock High School, officials with the Round Rock and Leander school districts said.
Neither school district named the employee.
Round Rock school district officials said they learned of the relationship earlier this month and have contacted local law enforcement and the Texas State Board of Educator Certification.
The assistant band director left Round Rock High at the end of the school year in 2016 and began working for Vista Ridge High School, school district officials said.
Round Rock officials notified Leander officials of this investigation on Oct. 11, and Vista Ridge High “immediately removed the employee from the school and conducted an investigation,” Vista Ridge High Principal Paul Johnson wrote today in a letter to parents.
Ultimately, the employee resigned from his position, Johnson said.
