Video of woman with Texas plates littering in Colorado parking lot sparks debate on social media

We all know that you don’t mess with Texas. But it seems some of us might have forgotten the moral behind the motto applies outside the state’s borders.

A video showing a woman dumping trash from her Texas-plated car in a Colorado parking lot sparked a heated debate on social media, San Antonio’s KSAT reports

“Just because you are not in Texas anymore does not mean you can just trash Colorado,” reads a caption on the video, which garnered over a million views on Facebook.

The person behind the camera can be heard asking the woman who littered, “Is that the most appropriate place for that?” before the woman drives off.

Several commenters called for the woman to return to Texas, while others spoke out in defense of the state and its residents, saying the woman was a misrepresentation of those who call Texas home.

The woman has since been issued a summons by the Wheat Ridge Police Department, according to a Facebook post.

The Texas Department of Transportation’s “Don’t mess with Texas” campaign has reminded residents that littering is not to be tolerated for over 30 years.

And that means in-state and out, y’all.
