Marchers headed to Texas Capitol on Tuesday to rally for social justice


The Austin Justice Coalition and other social advocacy groups are gathering Tuesday under the banner of Millions March Texas to march on the Texas Capitol for the opening day of the state’s 85th legislative session.

According to its Facebook event page, Millions March Texas will rally participants “to demand that swift and immediate actions take place through police and law in order to protect the lives of black, brown and other Texans of color from police brutality and systematic/institutionalized racism.”

Protesters will be gathering at 8 a.m. at the campuses of the University of Texas and Huston-Tillotson University before heading downtown to the state Capitol.
