Round Rock police helped paramedics detain a man Thursday afternoon after he was seen walking down the sidewalk naked on Main Street. No charges are expected, said Nick Olivier, a police spokesman.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital because of concerns about his mental health, Olivier said..
Police were notified around 11:57 a.m. Thursday about the man. His lack of clothing caught the attention of several customers eating lunch Thursday at Recuerdos Tex-Mex restaurant at 109 W. Main Street, Mary Abeita, the restaurant’s owner, said Friday.
Abeita said she and her patrons saw the man standing nude on top of a van parked across the street from her restaurant. He got off the van and started walking up and down the sidewalk in front of the eatery, she said.
“People were shocked,” she said. “It was so cold.”
She said she was concerned the man was mentally disturbed. He got back in his van and put on a T-shirt and underwear before police arrived, she said.
