Austin woman killed last week in previously unreported crash

A woman died after she crashed into two traffic poles and her vehicle caught fire in eastern Travis County in the early hours of Dec. 21, Texas Department of Public Safety officials said.

Authorities hadn’t previously reported the crash.

Nicolle Renee Hiddleston, 27, of Austin, was driving south on Decker Lane when, for reasons that are still unknown, she drove off the road and struck a pedestrian crosswalk light pole and a traffic light pole, DPS officials said.

Law enforcement got the 911 call at 12:11 a.m. Soon after they arrived, her vehicle caught fire, DPS officials said.

Hiddleston was a graduate of the University of Texas and was the social marketing manager for mattress company Saatva, said Phyllis Steury, a family friend.
