Emergency crews responded to a freight train derailment in Bertram along Texas 29 early Wednesday, according to the Hill Country Tribune.
No injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred around 1 a.m. in Bertram, about 35 miles northwest of Austin, the Tribune’s Matt Briscoe reported.
The derailment involved 22 railroad cars operated by Watco Companies on a train track owned by Capital Metro. Several cars, some of which appeared to be carrying gravel, came off the damaged tracks, Briscoe reported.
As of 11 a.m., Watco spokesperson Tracie VanBecelaere said it could take several hours to repair the line, depending on the condition of cars.
Traffic on Texas 29 was largely unaffected.
