Credit card skimmers found at Georgetown convenience store

Two credit card skimmers were found at the Berry Creek Food Store, officials say.

Investigators found the skimmers Thursday after suspicious activity was reported.

A Texas Department of Agriculture inspector found two credit card skimmers Thursday at gas pumps at a Georgetown convenience store, according to a news release from the state agency.

The skimmers were found at the Berry Creek Food Store at 30713 Chi Chi Drive after a report about suspicious activity, the release said.

Information about how long the skimmers had been used at the store was not available Thursday. Police were out to the gas station to remove them.

Credit card skimmers are devices that illegally record credit card numbers when customers use them to pay for gas and then allow thieves to make clones of the cards.
