Car crashes into Dollar Tree store in North Austin; 2 hurt

Two women were injured when a car plowed into a Dollar Tree store in North Austin on Saturday, authorities said.

Austin-Travis County EMS medics and Austin firefighters responded to the crash at 5310 Burnet Road shortly after 1:30 p.m.

One woman, a customer at the store, was being taken to Dell Seton Medical Center downtown with “minimal injuries,” EMS reported.

The other injured woman, the driver, refused treatment, EMS said.

Fire officials said their crews were already across the street responding to a previous medical call when the crash happened.

The cost of the damage had not been determined yet but the crash into the storefront knocked out two large glass panes that made up the door. Crime tape stretched across the gaping hole.
