Austin hotel fire confined to one room, fire officials say


Austin firefighters extinguished a fire at the SpringHill Suites hotel, off Interstate 35 just south of Texas 71, Friday night.

The fire was confined to one room on the third floor after an air conditioning unit caught fire, Austin fire officials said. The cause was accidental.

Firefighters responded around 8:20 p.m. Crews were handling smoke and water removal by 8:45 p.m.
