Beauty and wellness tips for a good cause at expo
Do your skin care products have cancer-causing ingredients? How can you stop accelerated aging? Arm yourself with beauty, fashion and wellness knowledge at Austin Beauty Guide’s Beauty360 expo Saturday and Sunday at the Palmer Events Center. Sample some products, view a live demonstration or attend a fitness class while you learn about inner and outer beauty.
The inaugural event will put everyone from makeup industry to nutrition experts under one roof and offer how-to workshops, panels, speakers and runway shows. Featured presenters sharing their expertise include Rochelle Rae of Rae Cosmetics, designer and Project Runway finalist Daniel Esquivel and television personality and beauty guru Lady Emmy.
Beauty360 has partnered with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and 20 percent of tickets sales will benefit Komen Austin. The beauty extravaganza will open its doors at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m.Sunday. Early birds will get a swag bag as well as at least the first 100 guests will. Assess your family silver with at restoration event
If you have a silver heirloom sitting at home that’s past its prime, there’s still some hope if you want to restore its original luster. Benold’s Jewelers is hosting a silver restoration event Monday and Tuesday where folks can bring items such as flatware, mirrors, combs or serving sets and have a restoration expert take a look at it.
Mitch Paul of Cincinnati Plating and Repair, who has 25 years of heirloom restoration advising experience, can tell customers the history of their pieces and provide estimates if customers decide to restore their heirlooms.

Get ready for Formula One with Argentine designs
Rare Trends, a fashion company bringing apparel from Argentine designers to Austin, will feature its fall and winter 2013 collection in a trunk show and fashion event on Tuesday. The collection focuses on hip, chic styles that can be worn at Formula One races or holiday parties. Go vintage for the holidays at pop-up shop
Lovers of all things vintage will be happy to hear that Archive Vintage has teamed up with designer boutique Co-Star for a pop-up shop that begins Nov. 14 and will last throughout the holiday season.
Shoppers can browse through vintage designer clothing, shoes, accessories and jewelry from the 1960s-1990s from labels such as Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel. Co-Star will kick off the holiday vintage fun with complimentary beverages, appetizers and sweet treats from 6-9 p.m. Nov. 14 at Co-Star at 1708 S.
