It’s no surprise some of the hottest toys of 2016 were collectibles. Most of these toys are packaged in blind bags or boxes, giving kids an exciting surprise every time. There’s no denying kids can’t wait to get their hands on them — and parents are often sent on a hunt to purchase these coveted, collectible toys. “Collectibles are small, but they offer kids big play value,” said Toy Insider mom Laurie Schacht of The Toy Insider. “These tiny toys can be purchased with allowance money and traded with friends on the playground, sparking new social interactions.”
Whether kids love animals, Disney characters or grocery store items, there is a collectible line for every type of kid this year.
These collectible, shopping-themed characters took the toy industry by storm in 2014. The award-winning toys are tiny, and each season, Shopkins introduces a new theme for kids to collect, share and trade with their friends. The characters are all shopping-themed, for example, grocery items (fruits, vegetables, sweets, more), shoes, beauty items, houseware products, sports, tech and more.
