Icebreaker takes layering to new level

Everyone knows about layering in colder temperatures. Runners, cyclists, skiers and other outdoor athletes know that the quality of your layers make a big difference when it comes to staying comfortable as you create a lot of body heat while the temps are freezing. Icebreaker helped change the way many people thought about those layers when it came out with its high-end Merino wool garments, which took the insulating properties of wool and added a more refined texture that’s comfortable next to the skin.

If you’re an endurance athlete in a cold weather climate and you don’t have at least one piece featuring Merino wool in your closet, you’re really missing out. The Comet Long Sleeve Half Zip for women is one of those versatile tops that can be worn as an outer layer or a base layer. It looks great, but it also features strategically placed panels to help with temperature management and greater flexibility. It’s great for running or hiking, especially if you’re the type of person who gets cold easily and wants more insulation than a typical fleece. A similar design (the Factor) is also made for men.
