Guy Fieri chows down, Mississippi inmates bust out and a ballot box gets stuffed (I guess that happens to Guy Fieri, too). Here’s what to watch and what to avoid on television this week:
Monday: “An Apology to Elephants,” 6 p.m., HBO: Lily Tomlin narrates this look at the historic abuse of elephants and steps being taken to improve their treatment.
“Brain Games,” 8 p.m., NGC: Peripheral vision and concentration dominate the second-season opener. I will concentrate on not letting my peripheral vision distract me from what’s on the screen.
“Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” 9 p.m., Food: Welcome to Season 17 of host Guy Fieri mistreating his body by eating such things as homemade pork rinds and parmesan-stuffed tater tots.
“Castle,” 9 p.m., ABC: An episode that involved Beckett and a bomb has been moved to April 29. Tonight’s new episode has Beckett being assigned to protect a billionaire (Ioan Gruffudd), which presumably does not sit well with Castle.
Tuesday: “Hell’s Kitchen,” 7 p.m., Fox: The competing chefs cook for Gordon Ramsay’s relatives, which just makes me wonder what holidays in that family must be like.
“The Bad Girls’ Club,” 7 p.m., Oxygen: Exhale. Season 10 is finally over.
“30 for 30,” 7 p.m., ESPN: Dan Marion and John Elway are among those looking back at the QB-heavy 1983 NFL draft.
Wednesday: “19 Kids and Counting” 8 p.m., DFH: They count the kids, I count the seasons. Oh, look – another begins tonight.
“Breakout,” 9 p.m. NGC: A pair of prisoners bust out of Mississippi State Penitentiary in the Season 2 kick-off. The good news for them — they’re free! The bad news? They’re in Mississippi.
“My Crazy Obsession,” 9 p.m., TLC: This guy has collected over 5,000 mustard containers. Pardon me, but does he have any Grey Poupon?
Thursday: “Elementary,” 9 p.m., CBS: Holmes is characteristically unemotional about his one-year sobriety anniversary.
Friday: “Happy Endings,” 7:30 p.m., ABC: The third season (and possibly the entire series) ends tonight. Way to go, crummy Nielsen families.
“Shark Tank,” 8 p.m., ABC: A belt with no holes? How am I going to tell how much weight I’m not losing?
Saturday: “World Championship Boxing,” 7:30 p.m., HBO: Martin Murray dukes it out with middleweight champ Sergio Martinez in Buenos Aires.
“The Bletchly Circle,” 9 p.m., PBS: This new Brit mystery series follows a group of female former code-breakers sensing a pattern in post-World War II murders.
Sunday: “Revenge,” 8 p.m., ABC: Emily and Aiden try to track down the Falcon, while I search for any semblance of what made this show’s first season so good.
“The Good Wife,” 8 p.m., CBS: Possible vote-tampering threatens Peter’s race for governor as Season 4 comes to a close.
