Austin will soon be home to the first Shake Shack in Texas. The burger restaurant chain, owned by Danny Meyer’s New York-based Union Square Hospitality Group, will be located in the Lamar Union mixed-use development project that will also be home to the renovated Drafthouse South (1120 S. Lamar Blvd.).
Meyer opened the first Shake Shack in Madison Square Park in 2004, serving all-natural hamburgers, griddled hot dogs and custard. The brand has since expanded to Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Florida, the District of Columbia, and Connecticut as well as several international locations and recently announced plans to open in Las Vegas.
