A few weeks ago, Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne announced the band’s new album with the following question: “Why would we make this music that is The Terror — this bleak, disturbing record …??” He went on to say that he didn’t really know the answer, except that maybe it had to do with being hopeless and disturbed.
On that cheery note, Austin might get more of an answer when the (fake) blood-loving Coyne and the rest of the band headline South by Southwest’s Town Lake Stage at Auditorium Shores on Friday, March 15. Or maybe they’ll just play some insane covers or “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.” The show is free and open to the public.
