One of the most highly anticipated restaurant happenings in Austin of the past decade took place this week when “Top Chef” winner and former Uchiko executive chef Paul Qui opened the doors to Qui. The James Beard award-winning chef’s flagship restaurant is at 1600 E. 6th St. in a minimalist white building.
The seasonal menu includes salmon butter (salmon poached in aromatic oil and worked to the texture of butter and served with traditional caviar accouterments), Rabbit 7 Ways (including a liquid preparation), a côte du bœuf that can serve up to six people and imaginative desserts such as the savory-and-sweet cheddar cheese ice cream sandwich.
