You crank through Austin author Jeff Abbott’s new thriller “Downfall,” and you wonder, “Does Sam Capra ever get a day off? Are there weekends where he just kind of hangs around his bar and pours drinks for, I don’t know, say, people who aren’t trying to kill him or ruin his life? Does he ever get to crack open a cold one and say, ‘That will be $3.50 and thank you for not bringing a gun, knife or martial arts knowledge into my establishment?’”
“Downfall” is the third book in Abbott’s often-wildly entertaining Sam Capra series, and Abbott manages to pack a ton of action into a book that covers a mere five days. (And on the six and seventh, Capra rested, one hopes.)
