Trenton Doyle Hancock was caught completely by surprise the first time he saw “Cult of Color: Call to Color.”
Though the Houston-based artist had spent years working with Ballet Austin artistic director Stephen Mills and Austin composer Graham Reynolds to create the highly unusual ballet based entirely on Hancock’s own paintings, the artist had no idea what to expect at the first performance in 2008.
