Legislation is advancing in the Texas House that would remove Gov. Rick Perry, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and House Speaker Joe Straus from making the final decision in awarding millions to technology startups.
State Rep. John Davis, chairman of the House Committee on Economic and Small Business Development, said he believes the state’s leadership is ready to delegate the awarding of commercialization grants from the Emerging Technology Fund.
