In-N-Out Burger is planning what would be its first restaurant in Austin, having applied for building permits to open a location along Interstate 35 near Airport Boulevard. Company officials on Friday confirmed the plans.
The California-based burger chain has developed a cult following mostly on the West Coast and has recently expanded east into Texas and Utah, opening its first restaurant in Texas in 2011. Company officials said in April that plans are in place for the first In-N-Out in Central Texas with a location at the University Commons shopping center in Round Rock. An opening date for that location has not yet been announced.
