Achieve Financial Services, an Austin company that offers prepaid debit cards, has agreed to pay restitution to thousands of cardholders as part of a settlement with the federal government over alleged deceptive practices.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation said that Achieve and First California Bank engaged in “unfair and deceptive practices … in the marketing and servicing of the AchieveCard, a prepaid, reloadable MasterCard,” according to a news release. Achieve is an “institution-affiliated party of (First California Bank),” according to the FDIC.
